Just finished the install with Sunsave. Very easy process to follow and the support from the team was great throughout. Easily contactable and supportive with any queries. Highly recommend if you are wanting a manageable solar installation. Included a last minute request for an EV charger and they were more than helpful getting it added to the quote.

2. Team Renewables
Team Renewables launched during 2020, the worst year for domestic solar installations since 2009 â and against the odds, it has thrived.
This is partly explained by the two founders, Etienne Hilaire and Rhys Davies-Kenny, who have all of the experience, skills, and emphasis on customer service that an installer needs to succeed.
As outlined on the companyâs website, managing director Etienne has been in the renewable industry since 2011, routinely works with large housebuilders, and âlikes to blow off the cobwebs by going for a run, climbing, and mountain biking (well, falling off).â
Operations director Rhys also acts as the firmâs supervisor for its electrical operations. Heâs well-suited to this role, having installed solar panels on social housing sites, new-build houses, and solar farms.
Together, they have what they call âa simple ethos: work together to improve our environment and lives through the delivery of smart, renewable, energy saving and carbon reduction technologies.â
The company covers a large swathe of England, from Nottingham all the way up to Harrogate, via Manchester â but this Rotherham-based installer is firmly rooted in South Yorkshire.
This is shown by Team Renewablesâ front-of-shirt sponsorship of the local Brinsworth Whitehill under-15s football team. Its slogan â âTogether Everyone Achieves Moreâ â is visible under the logo.
Very transparent and honest, a real Yorkshire company. Install day was a breeze, arrived early and did an outstanding job given the extreme hot weather. You can just tell when people take real pride in their work. I canât help but feel smug when other tradespeople on our housing estate comment what a neat tidy install it is. Well done Rhys and team. Really happy we decided to go with this company.

3. Solar 365
This installer uses equipment from several top-tier manufacturers, operates throughout Yorkshire, and â as the name suggests â primarily focuses on solar.
Despite only being founded in 2022, Solar 365 has amassed dozens of extremely positive reviews. Many of them namecheck Jordan Davis, whoâs run the company with co-directors Jules Harwood and Luke Watts since its founding.
This stability is encouraging, as is the firmâs relationship with big brands like Fox ESS, GivEnergy, Jinko Solar, LONGi, and Tesla.
From a relatively scenic business park in Finningley, this Octopus Energy Trusted Partner also provides air source heat pump installations and residential roofing jobs, as well as aftercare packages for solar customers.
And Solar 365 gives back, too. Itâs sponsored both the Heart of Doncaster Volunteer of the Year Award and Club Doncaster Titans, a football team that caters to people with disabilities or mental health conditions.
We had our solar panel system fitted Wednesday and were surprised at how quick the installation was! The fitters were polite and even worked through the rain! My husband dealt with Jordan for the initial sale and he was fantastic throughout and answered all questions in depth. He didnât sugarcoat things was really upfront and honest! The price was spot on for what we wanted.

4. FEC Renewables
FEC Renewables is owned by Oliver French, whoâs been in the trade for his entire adult life, starting while he was studying at Doncaster College for his qualification in electrical installation and engineering.
At this point, the local boy (and Newcastle fan, confusingly) has all the experience and know-how youâd hope for, and has assembled a skilled team too, judging by the many customer reviews that praise the staff.
Located on an industrial park near the small towns of Maltby and Tickhill, FEC Renewables also offers heat pumps, EV chargers, and air conditioning, plus what the company calls âsolar care plansâ.
These aftercare packages include inspections, cleaning, calibration checks, and performance reports.
From initial enquiry to installation and then post sales aftercare, FEC have been there with me. Oliver came when he said he would and looked at all the options with me; discussing different equipment options and prices; and answered any queries I had. All done in one day, rubbish taken away. A great installation and currently discussing an expansion to the battery system.

5. All Seasons Energy
In the small Sheffield neighbourhood of Halfway, youâll find a local success story.
Launched in 2017 as All Seasons Interiors before pivoting to renewable installations in 2022, All Seasons Energy quickly attracted plaudits, becoming the third-fastest growing company in Yorkshire that same year.
In 2023, this led to Swedish green technology outfit Aira buying the firm as part of its ÂŁ300 million investment in the UK.
This also involved launching the Aira Academy, a training centre that opened in 2024 with the aim of producing 8,000 fully qualified engineers over the course of a decade.
Since being taken over, All Seasons Energy has continued to charm its customers, who regularly highlight the installerâs friendly, informative, and respectful attitude.
We have just had solar, external insulation and air source heat pump installed and this company were amazing. Mike and Josh, the electricians, were exceptional and a credit to the company. Lee and Sam fitted our solar, and again, they were amazing. I would highly recommend All Seasons to anyone looking to upgrade their home. Well done guys, i will miss the hustle bustle!

How much do solar panels cost in Sheffield?
| Property size | Annual electricity usage (kWh)* | System size (kWp) | Number of panels (450W) | Estimated cost** | Estimated cost with 5kWh batteryâ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bedroom | 1,800 | 2.25 | 5 | ÂŁ3,719 | ÂŁ6,719 |
| 2-3 bedrooms | 2,700 | 4.5 | 10 | ÂŁ7,439 | ÂŁ10,439 |
| 4-5 bedrooms | 4,100 | 6.75 | 15 | ÂŁ11,158 | ÂŁ14,158 |
A 4.5 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar panel system costs ÂŁ7,439 to buy and get installed in Sheffield, on average, according to local MCS data.
How much you pay will depend on a multitude of factors, including the systemâs size, the installationâs complexity, which installer you pick, and your householdâs location.
We've also shown the rough cost of adding a 5kWh battery to each installation, as this can significantly increase your savings.
It enables you to use more of the electricity your panels generate, cut the amount of electricity you need to buy from the grid, and reduce your energy bills.
Having a battery opens up other opportunities as well, like signing up to one of the best export tariffs, getting a time-of-use import tariff with off-peak periods, and taking advantage of grid flexibility services like virtual power plants.
These attractive advantages may explain why around 94% of new solar panel installations in the UK now include a battery, according to data from Flexi-Orb and the Energy Performance Validation Scheme (EPVS).

Are there any grants for solar panels in Sheffield?
There arenât currently any local solar panel grants available to Sheffield homes.
Instead, the focus seems to be on securing funding for public buildings. In 2025, the government gave Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust ÂŁ1.13 million to install 1,500 solar panels.
Northern General Hospital and Jessop Wing Hospital were two of the beneficiaries of this grant, which should reportedly save taxpayers ÂŁ8.6 million per year.
And three primary schools in the city â Arbourthorne Community, Prince Edward, and Walkley â are set to get panels too, thanks to the governmentâs ÂŁ100 million Great British Energy solar rollout.
Thankfully though, certain households can still access other solar panel grants.
National grants
You may be able to benefit from a couple of national solar panel grants that apply to homes in Sheffield, which weâve run through in detail below.
These programmes are primarily aimed at underprivileged, energy-inefficient households though, which means most people arenât eligible.
To see which grants you could qualify for, use our grant eligibility checker.
ECO4
This UK government initiative compels large energy suppliers to help low-income homes, vulnerable residents, and benefit recipients by installing energy-efficient systems like solar panels for free.
However, you can only qualify if your heating system is powered by electricity, which is only the case for 10.9% of homes in England.
Homeowners and private renters are eligible, as long as you get at least one qualifying benefit â though people who live in energy-inefficient social housing may be entitled to ECO4 funding on that basis alone.
You may also be able to qualify if your annual household income is below a specific level, or if you can prove that a cold home would worsen your health conditions.
To find out more, check out our guide to ECO4.
Warm Homes: Local Grant
The UK governmentâs Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH:LG) replaced the Home Upgrade Grant and Local Authority Delivery scheme in 2025.
Its first round of funding handed Sheffield City Council ÂŁ3.4 million, which it must use to improve householdsâ energy efficiency ratings with measures including solar panels.
Energy-inefficient homes that are deprived, low-income, or receive a means-tested benefit can qualify for up to ÂŁ30,000 in funding.
This is composed of ÂŁ15,000 for energy performance measures such as solar & battery installations, and ÂŁ15,000 for low-carbon heating systems, like heat pumps.
Unfortunately, you canât apply for the grant yourself. If Sheffield City Council decides your home could meet the grant's eligibility criteria, a representative will get in touch with you.
How many homes in Sheffield have solar panels?
8,662 homes in Sheffield have solar panels, according to government data from November 2025. "Solar photovoltaics deployment", gov.uk, 2025
That means around 3.7% of the cityâs 232,000 households have made the switch. "Census and Population", sheffield.gov.uk, 2021
While thatâs a bit below the UK average of 5.5%, itâs higher than the 1.7% of London homes and 2.7% of Birmingham households that have switched to solar, and almost exactly the same as Manchesterâs 3.8% rate.
Is Sheffield sunny enough for solar panels?
Sheffield is very much sunny enough for solar panels.
When it comes to âsolar irradianceâ â a term for the sunâs intensity in a specific area â the home of Def Leppard, Jessica Ennis-Hill, and Sean Bean receives more sunlight than most places in the UK.
Solar irradiance is the amount of energy that travels from the sun to a particular spot on Earth, and is measured in kilowatt-hours per square metre.
The higher the solar irradiance is in your location, the more daylight your panels can turn into electricity, and the more youâll save on your energy bills.
Dunsop Bridge, a village in Lancashire that the Ordnance Survey has declared the geographic centre of Britain, gets around 850kWh per m².
This is according to the European Commission's Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS), which continually updates its solar irradiance data.
Youâll get around 1.7% more in Sheffield â partly because itâs south of Dunsop Bridge â which puts you in an excellent position to cut your electricity bills with solar.
Advances in solar and battery technology have made going solar worth it across the UK, even in places that enjoy lower than average amounts of daylight â but Sheffielders donât have to worry about that.
Typical solar panel output in Sheffield
A 4.6kWp solar panel system will produce 3,414kWh of electricity per year in Sheffield, according to the European Commissionâs PVGIS tool.
That should be more than enough to cover most of your annual electricity usage with solar energy, as the average UK household consumes 3,400kWh per year.
Weâve used a 4.6kWp array because it was the average UK system size in 2024, and we chose a 35° roof, since itâs a standard angle for UK roofs.
Our calculations are also based on a west-facing system, so if you have a south-facing roof, you could generate even more solar electricity â 4,355kWh, to be exact.
These figures show how effective solar panel systems can be in Sheffield these days, due to technological advances.
Your output wonât be identical all year round â in fact, your panels will normally produce more electricity than you need in summer. If you sign up to a solar export tariff, you can make money by selling all of this excess energy to the grid.
This will give you a financial buffer during winter, when your panels will generate less electricity and youâll have to rely more on the grid.
Is it worth getting solar panels in Sheffield?
Itâs absolutely worth getting solar panels in Sheffield, even if the city is often overcast.
Irradiance levels in the city are higher than the UK average, meaning a solar panel system can produce more than enough electricity for you to make an excellent return on your investment.
You can save hundreds of pounds per year by switching to solar, which is probably why thousands of households in Sheffield have already made the move.
If the upfront costâs too high for you, you may be able to get a free solar & battery system through ECO4 or WH:LG, but most homes arenât eligible.
Failing that, itâs worth considering Sunsave Plus, our all-in-one, bespoke residential solar and battery solution thatâs delivered as a monthly subscription with no upfront cost.
Every system comes with the Sunsave Guarantee, which provides you with 24/7 monitoring, maintenance, a free battery upgrade, a free replacement inverter (if needed), and downtime cover.
Your system will also be insured by Aviva against damage, fire, and theft.
