You own the system from day one. (This isn’t a roof-lease or ‘rent-a-roof’ scheme.) And you make monthly payments that will never go up.

As part of the 20-year Solar & Battery Plus package, your system will be protected by the Solar & Battery Guarantee, which includes:

• 24/7 remote monitoring and proactive troubleshooting
• free replacement parts – including a battery and inverter replacement
• downtime credit, so we credit your account if your system doesn't work for an extended time.

And it’s insured by Aviva against damage, fire and theft.

Sunsave Sona, our smart algorithm, will also work in the background every day to optimise your battery for the best possible savings. This includes being part of our Virtual Power Plant, which guarantees you £15 per month for the first 12 months.

Lots of our customers see immediate savings that outweigh the cost of their package. But your specific savings will depend on a few factors:

• the size of your home, which affects how much energy you use and how many panels can fit on your roof
• the appliances you use – things like heat pumps, hot tubs or electric vehicles affect how much energy you use
• the angle and direction of your roof, which affects how much light you get
• the energy tariffs you’re on, which affect the rate you pay for electricity

That’s why we always have a free 30-minute consultation with you before discussing specific savings. We need to know about your circumstances to give you an accurate quote.

To be eligible for Solar & Battery Plus, you need to be:

• a UK resident
• an owner of the property where you want to install
• aged 18–75
• able to afford the regular repayments, which we assess with a soft credit check

Two people can make a joint application for Solar & Battery Plus, as long as at least one of them meets this criteria and the lead applicant owns the home.

A few missed payments spread over the last few years isn't usually a problem. But you're unlikely to be eligible if in the last 3 years you've had significant arrears, defaults, CCJs (County Court Judgments), been insolvent, or are currently in a debt management plan.

Yes. You own your system as soon as it’s installed.

We have no rights over your roof, and we don’t take any cut of the energy you sell back to the grid. That means there are no issues with insurers or mortgage companies.

Yes! That's one of the benefits of solar.

You need to sign up to an ‘export’ tariff, which lets you sell energy back to the grid. When you join, we recommend the best export tariff for you and guide you on how to sign up.

It’s monitoring and maintenance for people who don’t want to worry about a thing. It comes with our 20-year Solar & Battery Plus package and last for the whole term.

We take care of everything:

Yes. You’re free to make full or partial repayments without any fees or penalties.

Paying off in full

Just pay the outstanding credit amount. You don't have to pay for any interest or fees you would've incurred over the rest of your term.

Paying off in part

We deduct any repayments from the outstanding credit amount, so you accrue interest on a smaller balance and pay less overall. It's up to you whether you shorten your term or reduce your monthly payments.

What if you have the Solar & Battery Guarantee?

If you pay everything off in full, you won't be covered anymore. But as long as you keep paying at least £1 a month (excluding your monitoring and maintenance fee), you can repay as much as 98% of your outstanding credit and keep the Solar & Battery Guarantee.

Please note: If you signed your contract before 15th May 2026, paying some back early works a little differently. So, if you’re looking to make an early repayment, get in touch and we’ll discuss your options.

Let us know you're moving as soon as you can and we can help. You have two options:

Transfer your package If you’re on a 20-year term, we can transfer your package to the new owner, including the Solar & Battery Guarantee. The new owner will need to pass our eligibility checks.

Pay off your balance Before or during your sale, you can pay off the remaining balance, and the new owner will own the system.

Hive Solar Saver is an exclusive offer of 25% off your electricity use that is available to you as a Hive customer.

Once your installation is completed, you’ll receive an invitation to sign up for Hive Solar Saver via email. Just follow the instructions, and you’ll help increase your savings.

Our lovely engineers will take care of connecting your solar & battery system to your Hive app, so you don’t have to lift a finger. They’ll install a Hive Bridge and Hive Hub (if you don’t already have one), and will show you how to use these devices and the app – all for no extra cost.
