How much money are you expecting to save with Home Battery Plus?
I think over this next year, I will see hundreds of pounds worth of savings.
Why did you get a home battery?
I got an EV about a year ago. Since then, I've been looking at green energy and how I could save on my electricity bills, and not be so reliant on the grid.
Why did you choose Sunsave?
I think it was the honesty and clarity about the different options. The possibility of not having a massive upfront cost was a big factor as well.
I spent months researching and looking at various options, and the one that really stuck out to me was Sunsave.
Initially it was a bit daunting and challenging, because there are lots of different companies and options out there. But once I had the video call with Sunsave, I knew that it was the right decision for me.
I got all the information I needed, and Sunsave didn't have the really heavy sales drive that I found with other companies, who were quite pushy in trying to get me to sign up.
I didn't feel under pressure to sign a contract. I got the information, then I had my own time and space to think about whether I wanted to go ahead.
Would you have got a battery without Sunsave?
I think I would have delayed getting a battery if the Sunsave option wasn't there. I liked the Sunsave proposal the best, it just made things seem a lot easier than they were with other installers.
How was the Sunsave sales process?
It was really easy; it wasn't pushy. I didn't feel under pressure to sign a contract. I got the information, then I had my own time and space to think about whether I wanted to go ahead.
How was the installation?
I was pleasantly surprised that the installation date was a lot sooner than I thought it'd be.
Then on the day, I wasn't sure what to expect – but the installer arrived at about 8am, and by midday it was all set up and we had the app activated. It was a lot quicker than I expected.

Did you have any reservations about getting a battery?
The biggest thing I was concerned about was the location, and any potential disruption with wiring and things like that.
But it was all really easy, and a lot more straightforward than I thought initially.
How do you think the system looks on the wall?
The system looks great. I found a nice, quiet wall where there wasn't much going on, and the installer did a really neat job.
I'm happy with it. And it's out of the way – it's not too obvious or intrusive.
How does your tariff work with your battery?
I'm on the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff. I pay 6.9p per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for off-peak power and around 28p per kWh during the daytime.
My battery charges up during off-peak times, so I've got really cheap electricity I can discharge to cover my household usage during peak times.
It really does become a significant saving if you have an EV and other devices that are used during the day.
If you're concerned about roof space or the orientation of your roof, I would definitely explore the battery option. It's a great way to get into green energy.
How has it been since the installation?
My battery's been performing brilliantly. I set it up with the appropriate off-peak and peak times on the app, and after that, it just does its job.
I don't have to do anything – I essentially just watch the savings rack up during the day when it's discharging.
Have you got any other green tech, and would you add any more in the future?
I've had an EV for about a year, which is what got me thinking about getting a battery.
I'd like to get solar panels, but my roof space is a bit complicated. Thankfully, Sunsave has already come up with some good solutions for me to consider in the future.
I thought I'd start with a battery and then maybe look at solar later on. Having an EV plus a battery is a really good compromise for now.
Do you have any tips for other people considering a home battery?
If you're concerned about roof space or the orientation of your roof, I would definitely explore the battery option. It's a great way to get into green energy.
The communication with Sunsave stands out. I like that I know who to contact, and that I know I'll get a response.
How do you feel about your long-term relationship with Sunsave?
The support I get will help in the longer term, as like all things, there will be maintenance required.
How would you describe your experience with Sunsave overall?
The communication with Sunsave stands out. I like that I know who to contact, and that I know I'll get a response. I don't think I'd get that with a bigger company.
Would you recommend Sunsave?
I would definitely recommend Sunsave to friends, colleagues, and family, because of the offers that are available, the communication with the team, and the great information that's provided without a pushy salesperson trying to get you to sign a contract.
