Tony, a project manager in Bedfordshire, signed up to Solar & Battery Plus in 2024. We asked him what the process was like, why he wanted to go solar, and how much he's saving on his electricity bills.

How much are you saving with Solar & Battery Plus?

With the energy bills I was getting before the system, I was probably at somewhere around £180 per month for electricity.

Since it was installed, I haven't paid more than £40 per month. Even with the Sunsave payment, it's still way less than what I was paying monthly.

I'm definitely happy to see the savings we're making. We're using that to enjoy ourselves and go out and eat out a bit more.

Why did you want to go solar in the first place?

I wanted to switch to solar to save some money. I wasn't worried about necessarily saving a load of money, or about saving the planet. It was more about just securing the cost of the energy going forward.

I was looking for somebody who would provide me with a solution that meant I would be cost-neutral at the end of it.

I did think about getting solar panels before, but because of the upfront cost, it just wasn't possible.

What made you decide to choose Sunsave?

I decided to go with Sunsave after a conversation with a salesperson. They told me everything I wanted to know, they were clear and concise, and they were very helpful. I just felt comfortable.

Had you ever previously considered getting solar panels?

I did think about getting solar panels before, but because of the upfront cost, it just wasn't possible.

Would you have switched to solar now if Solar & Battery Plus wasn't available?

If that wasn't an option, I definitely wouldn't have switched.

Tony said "the installation was seamless"

How was the sales process?

It was straightforward. The communication was really good. Any questions I had, they came back quickly, and we just went through the system in detail and tweaked it to match my requirements.

What did you think of the Sunsave proposal?

It was clear, concise, and gave me all the information I wanted, including projections of what my savings would be, and the energy generation I'd get from the system.

It had everything on there that I was expecting to see, and a little bit more.

What was choosing your system kit like?

I was able to ask questions about whether I should increase the number of panels, told why I should or shouldn't, and we went through two different sizes of inverter.

We got to a point where the projections were coming out with figures I wanted to see, and that's how we got to my system.

I've been really happy with the service. Everybody's been friendly, and I get quick replies.

How did the installation go?

The installation was seamless. I was told they were going to arrive on a certain day with the scaffolding, and that all went up with no problem.

The installers arrived, and it was completed within a day and a half. There was no mess, it was very tidy, and they were all very friendly. It was a good experience.

How does your system look to you?

It looks good; it looks neat and tidy. All of the cabling is neat too.

How would you describe your experience with Sunsave overall?

I've been really happy with the service. Everybody's been friendly, and I get quick replies.

Any questions I've got, people come back to me. I found it to be a really easy experience, and everybody's been really helpful.

Did you have any concerns about switching to solar?

The only concerns I had were around whether I'd generate enough to offset the cost of the system and my monthly fee.

But I was told that while I'd not generate as much during the winter months, that would be made up for in the summer. I was shown the projections, and I was comfortable after that.

I would definitely recommend Sunsave to other people. I'm very happy with my system, and the Sunsave team has been great. I've got no complaints at all.

How did your friends and family feel about it?

When I was talking to friends and family about the system that I was gonna get, they were all a little bit sceptical about whether I would actually end up saving any money, and whether I'd have to pay anything upfront.

But since they've seen how it's performing, they're all pretty happy that I went that way. They're probably thinking about doing it as well now.

Are you planning to get any more green tech?

We may well add something like air conditioning, which obviously is gonna raise our usage. We'd like to increase our battery capacity, so we can use it without impacting our bills.

Do you have any advice for others considering the switch to solar?

I'd definitely advise people to look into it.

The savings have been great, and the generation from our panels is allowing us to lead a normal life where we don't have to worry about when we're switching things off and on. We can do it whenever we want to.

Would you recommend Sunsave?

I would definitely recommend Sunsave to other people. I'm very happy with my system, and the Sunsave team has been great. I've got no complaints at all.
