Our funding includes £2.2 million from the government, through its Green Home Finance Accelerator Initiative.
This has boosted our mission to make the power of solar accessible to all UK homes, by helping us to launch Sunsave Plus, the country’s first solar subscription.

What’s the Green Home Finance Accelerator?
The Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA) is a £20M government scheme established by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, as part of its £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio.
It funds companies in their efforts to create finance initiatives that help UK customers make their homes more energy-efficient, and transition to low-carbon sources for heating and electricity.
We were awarded £2 million in 2023 to help us launch and develop our solar subscription, which is now helping households around the UK to save on their energy bills (you can check out some of our happy customers here).
The pilot, called ‘Electric Roof Project’, also allowed us to create our dedicated solar advice hub and build a smooth, easy journey for all our customers.
You can read more about our GHFA grant in The Telegraph and Energy Live News.
Who else has funded us so far?
As well as backing from the government, we’ve secured a £100 million finance facility from Crédit Agricole, one of Europe’s largest banks, which will fund the installation of tens of thousands of Sunsave Plus solar & battery systems all over the country.
We’ve also attracted millions of pounds of funding from a host of investors, including:
- Norrsken VC
- IPGL
- Clearance Capital
- Lord Michael Spencer, ICAP founder
- Lord Stuart Rose, former Asda chairman
- Roland Rudd, FGS Global founder

Who’s regulating us?
We’re authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to provide solar panels and batteries on a subscription model.
This means we must meet FCA standards, including requirements to treat customers fairly.
Why we’re here for the long term
In an industry where solar installers regularly come and go, we’ve built the foundations to ensure that Sunsave is around for many years to come.
Alongside our significant financial backing, there are a few other important reasons why we’ll be here for the foreseeable future.
1. We’re fully accredited
Our installation processes are of the highest quality, as evidenced by the fact we’ve secured multiple leading accreditations in the solar industry. You can’t build for the future if you cut corners, and we haven’t.
Our accreditations include the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), Flexi-Orb, Which? Trusted Trader, Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), and the Energy Performance Validation Scheme (EPVS).
To find out more, check out the guide to our accreditations.
2. We’re a highly experienced team
To make solar accessible for all, we need experience on our side. That’s why we’ve hired a team of people who’ve built world-changing products at other companies.
Our experts have decades of experience in the energy industry (SSE, Bulb, OVO) and in financial services (Monzo, Wise, Worldpay).
We install solar & battery systems across England, Wales and Scotland, using best-in-class kit and adhering to the highest installation standards.
And you don’t just have to take our word for it: we have over 300 reviews on Trustpilot, with an excellent score of 4.8 out of 5. To learn more about what our customers think, check out their reviews.
3. It’s a proven model
Sunsave Plus might be new to the UK, but solar subscriptions have become very popular in other countries, such as the US, Germany, and South Africa.
Households in all of these countries are dealing with the same problems as we’re seeing in the UK: high energy bills and unaffordable solar.
It’s no surprise, then, that the concept of switching to solar at no upfront cost has such global appeal. For example, Sunrun – the US-based solar subscription provider – has more than 1.1 million customers.
These customers have 8.4GW of solar panels on their rooftops, which is more than the UK’s entire domestic solar capacity.

What next?
The government’s GHFA funding has been crucial in helping us with our mission to make solar accessible for everyone.
Our long-term vision is to become the UK’s first all-in-one home energy platform.
We’re building a system to bring software, hardware, and financing together with the aim of cutting households’ bills and making them more energy independent.
